The 4Gune Cluster Centres are successfully participating in Aalborg University’s Megaprojects Programme (Denmark) through Siemens-Gamesa.

Within the framework of collaboration fostered by the 4gune Cluster and Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy, Aalborg University’s Megaprojects Programme has been implemented, a pilot project that addresses energy transition and the circular economy.

The challenge set for this occasion, “Energy Transition with sustainable solutions” falls into the Megaproject to decarbonise the local energy system and minimise environmental and social impact by fostering the circular economy and job creation. Siemens-Gamesa has funded four projects presented by the UPV/EHU’s Faculty of Science and Technology, the UPV/EHU Engineering School of Bilbao and University of Deusto's Faculty of Engineering, all of which are members of the 4gune Cluster. The following projects have been selected:

  • Recycling and use of oil for the development of new resins for wind turbine components.
  • Assessment of the life cycle of a prototype for the maritime industry, re-using plastic waste from the ocean.
  • Zed: Co-design a Zero Emissions District: a sustainable approach for Zorrozaurre.
  • Identification of the necessary skills and competences for professionals of the future renewable energy sector.

Following the successful first call, this cooperation formula will be maintained for forthcoming editions and new channels will be opened for the 4Gune Cluster and SGRE to work together.
