The European Commission has included 4gune as one of the initiatives recognised as part of the 4th anniversary of the European Skills Pact. 4gune, a Basque cluster based around university education on engineering, science and technology, and its ecosystem, will contribute towards developing the talent and competitiveness of the Basque Country up to 2030.

The Regional Skills Partnerships (RSP) fall under the umbrella of the European Pact for Skills programme. They are collaborative initiatives designed to connect industrial ecosystems and address regional skills gaps and the development of talent. Following a rigorous selection process, to date 9 pioneering initiatives have been selected by the European Commission to be part of this initiative. They include KSIgune, which was recognised in March as the first European alliance on skills in the CCI sector.

4gune was selected to contribute to this European framework through actions that seek to connect the University with industry and respond to the technological changes and demands of the sector that are redefining today's advanced industry.

These actions include raising awareness about the university training and research offer in strategic areas for the Basque Country such as Smart Industry, the development of inter-university programmes to increase abilities and skills in engineering, science and technology, knowledge transfer through the 4gune Business + University programme, and the creation of new alliances to help increase competitiveness and the development of talent to take on the digital transformation.
